About me
I am a Postdoctoral researcher in Political Science at Linköping University. I recently defended my dissertation The Resilience of Diplomacy: Adaptation and Continuity of Diplomatic Practice in Crises at the Department of Government, Uppsala University.
My research focuses on diplomatic norms and practices – in other words, the unwritten rules of diplomacy. I am primarily interested in understanding how such practices are diffused and learned by diplomats. Diplomatic practices often have a significant impact on the policy output of multilateral institutions such as the EU, NATO and the G20, and it is thus crucial to understand them in order to grasp what it is that makes multilateralism 'work'. My research has been published in the Journal of Common Market Studies, Review of International Studies, International Studies Review and Journal of International Relations and Development. I am also a co-author to the open access book The Everyday Making of EU Foreign and Security Policy: Practices, Socialization and the Management of Dissent (Elgar Online 2022).
In addition to my PhD studies, I am also an Associate Research Fellow at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI). Through my role at UI, I contribute with policy analyses to Swedish agencies, such as the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Armed Forces.
